From the depths of the earth
The extraction of drinking water from deep wells should be carefully controlled, as it is important to ascertain that not more water is extracted than can be naturally replenished. Normally groundwater is free from pollutants and pathogenic bacteria, it is therefore ideal for use by humans for drinking. In this instance, it is of great importance that sensors used for measurements within the wells do not contaminate the water. To further avoid contamination, they should be maintenance-free and reliable.
Level measurement using VEGAWELL 52
With its dry ceramic CERTEC measuring cell, the VEGAWELL 52 is the ideal solution for level measurement in deep wells. The rugged measuring cell resists “Water hammer”, which may occur if the sensor is dropped into the well from a height. Further properties, which make the VEGAWELL 52 particularly suitable for this application, are its small diameter (32 mm), its integrated overvoltage arrester for lightning protection and the high tensile load capability of the suspension cable.
